S'pore pioneer Rajaratnam passed away
One of S'pore founder father, Mr S. Rajaratnam, passed away on wed afternoon at 1515h. Flags will flag at half-mast from thurs to saturday. Although i did not really know him that much, but he's the one who wrote our Singapore pledge which we recite every morning when we were in school.
"We, the citizen of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality, so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation."
The word came from his pen, and stood for what he believe in. These words are meaningful, especially the part on pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion.
I got the news through my mother when i called her that night. But what i'm disappointed is that there's no saying about the news in my NS camp when schools have been paying tribute to him. Most people dosen't know anything about it.
Just watch the state funeral on Channel newsasia, which passed by the road which i've just been to on wed, a few hours before he dies. That day we also just pass by Parliament house when we went to supreme court.
